ADA CDT Code D0600Caries detection has gained recognition over the years, and the Code Maintenance Committee of the American Dental Association has recently approved an insurance code specifically for a “nonionizing diagnostic procedure capable of quantifying, monitoring, and recording changes in structure of enamel, dentin, and cementum.”1 The new CDT code, D0600, took effect on January 1, 2017.

To DEXIS, With Pride

Posted by Team DEXIS

Pride_BOC_LogosWhen DEXIS adds a new product to its imaging brand, it’s going to be the best. When CariVu™ and DEXIS™ Imaging Suite both won “Best of Class” Technology Awards, we were thrilled to hear that technology leaders in the dental field agreed that those products achieved our lofty goals. Launched 7 years ago, “Best of Class” Technology Awards recognize innovative products that set a quality standard in their respective categories. The process is unbiased and non-profit, and the designation is awarded after a rigorous and uncompromising selection process. The panel, comprised of a respected group of technology leaders in dentistry, seeks out “game changing” products that they feel will have significant impact. There is no “check-box template” during the voting process. While some products are so new and different that they literally create their own category, some tried-and-true traditional products affirm their quality and class leadership year after year.

Thank you DEXIS

The winter holidays bring with them both happiness and reflection — it’s a time of looking back on memories and looking forward to hope. That’s why this story, my story means so much to me. As Manager, Public and Media Relations for DEXIS, I have many reasons to be thankful. I am grateful to be an integral part of a company with a conscience. DEXIS gives back to the community through donations of equipment and time, through worthy causes such as Give Kids a Smile, Mission of Mercy, and TeamSmile, just to name a few. Attending these events has allowed me to meet the dentists and associates who use our products every day, and share their skills with people whose finances often preclude vital dental care for them and their children.

What’s black and white and ‘read’ all over?

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) posted these interesting facts on caries1:

Although dental caries (tooth decay) is largely preventable, it remains the most common chronic disease of children aged 6 to 11 years (25%), and adolescents aged 12 to 19 years (59%). Tooth decay is four times more common than asthma among adolescents aged 14 to 17 years (15%).

Many adults also have untreated tooth decay (e.g., 28% of those 35 to 44 years and 18% of those 65 and older).

Keep Them Coming Back for Dental Exams

Posted by Team DEXIS

Ask any clinician, and they will tell you—rarely do people look forward to dental visits. Recently, the American Dental Association released statistics which show that fewer adults are visiting the dentist these days. While there are surely multiple factors causing this decline, most probably stem from anxiety. To counter this, dentists offer adjunct services, from spa comforts to headphones with pleasing audio, to help lessen the patient’s stress while receiving the dental care they need.

DEXIS and GKAS Help Win Race Against Tooth Decay

Posted by Team DEXIS

Often, a child’s dental condition is like a race between time and tooth decay. There are times when all of the siblings in the household share one toothbrush; for those kids, keeping a winning smile is against the odds. That’s why 75 dentists, hygienists, assistants, manufacturers, and lay people met at the Richmond International Raceway in Virginia on April 27 and 28 for Give Kids a Smile (GKAS). The event was sponsored by 3M Racing, Henry Schein Cares, the ADA Foundation, and the Virginia Dental Association, and DEXIS, as founding partner of GKAS, was proud to join that illustrious crew. Everyone’s goal—to rev kids up about proper dental care.
