A Single-Size X-ray Sensor That's Just Right

Posted by Team DEXIS

DEXIS Platinum X-ray Sensor.jpegFinding a sensor that pleases both the patient and the clinician used to be the stuff that fairy tales were made of. With all of the brands out there, some sensors were too big and some were too sharp, and no dental assistant should have to bear those kind of imaging issues. You don’t have to wander among the many brands, until you can’t see the forest for the trees. With the DEXIS™ Platinum sensor, clinicians can capture excellent images with a single-size sensor that fits “just right ” — whether the patient is father-sized, mother-sized, child-sized, or any size in between.

Yes, Relationships DO Affect Care

Hygienist_wSensor_and_Patient_FB.jpgIt’s no secret that doctor-patient relationships are very important in building and maintaining a successful practice. When patients trust their caregivers, they are more likely to follow instructions. In my 26 years of working with dentists and their practices, I have witnessed firsthand how building these relationships and educating patients has resulted in people seeking routine, timely care. That means that patients are not only interested in addressing problems, but also are scheduling regular checkups to keep their teeth healthy which in turn, allows the clinician more opportunity for early diagnosis of dental disease.

Section 179 – A Slam Dunk!

Posted by Team DEXIS

Section-179.jpg“It’s a slam dunk.” That’s how Keith Drayer, vice president and general manager of Henry Schein Financial Services, describes purchasing equipment during the 2015 tax year and taking advantage of the benefits of Section 179 of the tax code. According to the Section 179 website, “Essentially, Section 179 of the IRS tax code allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment and/or software purchased or financed during the tax year. That means that if you buy (or lease) a piece of qualifying equipment, you can deduct the full purchase price from your gross income. It's an incentive created by the U.S. government to encourage businesses to buy equipment and invest in themselves.”

DEXIS helps with “quick and decisive action”

Zhne_neu_3When planning a trip to the U.S., tourists prepare for fun and adventure. However, a different type of trip that a German tourist recently took on Lombard Street in San Francisco was a very unwelcome surprise.  After she fell, her husband saw that her bridge had fallen out, and her face was bloody. He thought fast and Googled “dentist” on his iPad. Dr. Cynthia K. Brattesani’s name came up on the search as very close to them.

Dr. Brattesani and her team were just about to start their lunch hour when, as she describes, “a tourist entered our office holding some teeth in her hands

Always a season of giving

Rebecca_and_Candy_at_TSA few years ago, eight-year-old Sarah visited a Give Kids a Smile® (GKAS) event in Arizona. As a child who had little experience with dental care, she obviously needed some TLC after her extensive dental work was completed. I hugged the little girl, helped to dry her tears, and of course, give her a gentle lecture about the importance of daily brushing. Sarah looked at me and replied, “Sometimes I don’t have time to brush my teeth because I have to wait until my three older brothers are finished with the toothbrush.”

Stuck in a Rut

Posted by Team DEXIS

VivianContent provided by Vivian Zabik, RDH, Certified DEXIS Instructor:  I have been in dentistry since I was 16 years old. My high school started a two-year dental assisting program with a neighboring school. I was always adventurous, so I convinced my best friend to sign up for the program with me. I told her, “I’m sure the guys are really cute at this school, especially since it’s so close to Kent State University!” She looked at me like I was crazy and said, “Is this going to be like the time you suggested we take a public bus home from school and ended up on other side of town?” I can still hear her mother lecturing us in broken Polish-English on the long drive home!

Stop Waiting for Something to Happen (with Digital X-rays)

Posted by Team DEXIS

Content provided by Eileen Boren, RDA and DEXIS Certified Instructor: Not too long ago, I went with a friend to her first appointment with her new dentist. She had heard good things about him and his office. When we arrived the receptionist greeted us with a friendly smile. The office was clean and tastefully decorated. After filling out the usual forms she was taken back to the operatory that seemed well-equipped. I was allowed to tag along.
